USNCC Pilot Phase II - Beginning 2022  

The USNCC Pilot II will be launched in 2022 across three separate enrollment and starting dates based on the degree program.

In Fall of 2021, the USNCC will open a limited application and enrollment window for eligible enlisted Sailors and Marines (new students) who are interested in the USNCC AS in Military Studies program. The USNCC will select 100 students to be enrolled and begin classes in January 2022, with initial courses delivered by the USNCC covering the USNCC Naval Studies Core courses.

In the Summer of 2022, the USNCC will open an application and enrollment window for new students who are interested in the USNCC AS in Military Studies, AA/AAS in Cyber Security, and AS Nuclear Engineering Technology programs. Classes will begin in the Fall of 2022.

In the Fall of 2022, the USNCC will open an application and enrollment window for new students who are interested in the USNCC AS Data Analytics , AS Aviation Maintenance , AS/AA Organizational Leadership and AS Logistics programs. Classes will begin in January 2023.

An Associates of Science degree and professional certificate in the Data Analytics/Data Science Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation in statistical methods, including proficiency in using spreadsheets, statistical tools, visualization tools, programming and querying languages, and the ability to work with different types of data repositories and big data platforms. Students at the USNCC will have access to state-of-the-art software with expert faculty focused on instruction and training to prepare students for practical applications of these skills. The courses will introduce students to data collection and database management concepts, data analytic methods, emerging technologies, and programs at transfer institutions. The Data Analytics curriculum will enable students to create practical models that improve the use of data, utilize key data to solve tactical and operational organizational problems, lead data analytics teams, and utilize a data repository to support organizational decision making. This includes data organization and curation, statistical methods, data mining, and programming to improve personal and organizational decision-making. Students shall demonstrate effective communications and visualization skills, inclusive of writing/verbal communications and data visualization techniques. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
An Associates of Science (or possible Associates of Applied Science) degree and professional certificate in the Cyber Security Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation in core technical and non-technical concepts including policy, software assurance, network concepts and defense, and programming including scripting. The program must be designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C) program for Cyber Defense Education (CDE) administered by the National Security Agency (NSA). The courses will introduce students to introductory programming, IT systems components, policy, legal and compliance, ethics and information skills and programs at transfer institutions. The Cyber Security curriculum will enable students to identify key business assets, associated threats and vulnerabilities, identify security controls and defense tools, methods and components. Students shall demonstrate the conceptual and practical aspects of cyber security and be provided the knowledge to obtain industry certifications (e.g., A+, Security+, etc.). This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
An Associates of Science (or possible Associates of Arts) degree and professional certificate in the Organizational Leadership Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation in the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively manage and lead others now and in the future. The courses in the Organizational Leadership concentration, which will complement existing military training will examine the theories, concepts, and models of organizational leadership. Environmental factors; organizational objectives; culture; diversity and inclusion; and individual and group ethical standards will also be examined to incorporate situational determinants of leadership effectiveness. Students will develop an intellectual framework regarding what “leadership” actually entails, along with an understanding of the skills and knowledge required for everyday leadership as well as both preventing and addressing internal and external crises. This program should provide study in contexts apart from or beyond the business context. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
An Associates of Science degree and professional certificate in Aviation Maintenance Technology Concentration area. This will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation in math, science, and avionics engineering technology, and teaches students analytical, and practical skills and knowledge in an aviation maintenance setting. The program must lead to or support FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications and licensing. The courses will provide students with an in-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance theory in general aeronautics and military applications, various airframe platforms, aircraft engine theory, and emerging aviation technology, and aviation maintenance administration and management. Students shall demonstrate effective communications skills, inclusive of writing and verbal communications, and critical thinking skills. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
An Associates of Science degree and professional certificate in the Logistics Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation of various components of transportation and distribution logistics. Ideally, the Logistics Concentration area will contain a maritime focus. The courses in the Logistics concentration will examine the theories, concepts, and components of logistics and other components of supply chain management including the efficient and effective forward and reverse flow storage of goods, services and related information between points of origin and consumption and programs at transfer institutions. The curriculum prepares students for positions in the fields of transportation, distribution/warehousing, and purchasing. Students will gain an understanding of maritime logistics and supply chain management, as well as the communication, analytical, business, accounting, and managerial skills necessary to be successful in a variety of maritime environments. Students in the Logistics concentration will develop the knowledge and skills to strategically manage the procurement, movement and storage of materials in a global environment. This concentration will provide a solid foundation in qualitative and quantitative methods used to effectively and efficiently manage complex global supply chains and enhance the student’s ability to support military operational readiness. Working in conjunction with an academic partner, the courses will complement existing military/service logistics training. Programs that cover some/all of the following topics/coursework are preferred: Supply Management; Maintenance Management; Distribution Transportation; Life Cycle Logistics; Facilities Management; Environmental Engineering; and/or Civil Engineering. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
An Associates of Science degree and professional certificate in the Military Studies Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation and study of the history of war and warfare, history of regions identified in the National Defense Strategy, the US foreign policy making process, International Relations theories, the evolution of military technology and concepts, and the U.S. political and military systems. Students will gain the tools to use historical analysis appropriately, demonstrating critical and thinking skills, and develop strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The multi-disciplinary curriculum will explore the key influences and enduring functions that U.S. Naval Forces have executed for the nation or will perform in the future maritime domain and will include a research/writing focused capstone project. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field, such as Security Studies, International Relations or Military History.
An Associates of Science degree and professional certificate in the Nuclear Engineering Technology Concentration area, which will be a rigorous program that provides a comprehensive foundation of mathematics, physical sciences and nuclear technology. The program must be accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) or transfer directly to a bachelor’s program that is accredited by ABET. The courses in the Nuclear Engineering Technology concentration will introduce students to physics, calculus, chemistry, electrical, mechanical and fluid engineering, and nuclear technology. This program will lead to an understanding of nuclear systems operations, nuclear maintenance and nuclear engineering programs at transfer institutions. The curriculum will offer students the ability to interpret laboratory experiments that measure nuclear and radiation processes. Students will gain an understanding of nuclear processes and operations, nuclear systems, rules and regulations, quality assurance, and radiological safety. Working in conjunction with an academic partner, the courses will complement existing training at the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program. This program will prepare students for transfer to a reputable bachelor’s degree program in a related field.
