The United States Naval Community College provides opportunities for active duty enlisted Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen and Coast Guard Reservists to earn stackable certificates which apply directly to an associate degree in one of several naval-relevant areas of study.
Is the USNCC for me?
The USNCC is a great educational opportunity for the right student. You may be a good fit for the USNCC if you are interested in furthering your lifelong educational journey through an associate degree and have a strong interest to improve in your rating or MOS and have an interest in becoming a more effective warfighter and enlisted leader. To be successful, you should be prepared to dedicate 10-12 off-duty hours per week to your educational coursework. Currently, if you are an active duty enlisted Sailor, Marine, Coast Guardsman, or Coast Guard Reservist, you are eligible to be considered for access to one of seven associate degree programs.
Admissions and Eligibility Requirements
All active duty enlisted service members in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reservists are eligible to apply for admission. Admission to USNCC is a selective process. You will be considered against candidates based on the needs of the naval services with priority consideration extended to junior service members with no previously earned college degrees. Service members who have previously earned college degrees may be considered for admission into certificate programs.
Other factors may include:
Your rating or MOS
Your prior educational experience
Space availability and demand for your selected degree program
Admission consideration is dependent upon continued approval from your command and your service separation date (EAOS/EAS) must be no sooner than three months from the course start date.
All active duty enlisted Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard service members and Coast Guard Reservists are eligible to be considered for admission. Commissioned officers, warrant officers, and U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Reservists are are not eligible at this time.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are inextricably linked to the readiness and mission success of our military services. Therefore, diverse representation of the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard will be a priority in the selection process for USNCC participation.
